I Should Eat More Often

I’m not sure if it was the sleeping in or eating more than a single meal for the whole day, but I had a good day of writing yesterday. Whatever the reason, I’m very happy about that.

Through Windows and Hearts is almost complete now, one scene left to write, and it’s going to be interesting.  The current word count is 16k. I think iI have maybe 2k left to write. I rather expected this to be longer than that, but who knows what will happen in editing. After adding 35k to Where The Ether Flows in the first pass, I rule nothing out anymore.  I will say that I’m very happy with how yesterday’s writing turned out. The very emotional scene I knew was coming turned out so well, so sweet. I have high hopes.

In other news, I FINALLY get to report something I know a number of you have been waiting for. The print edition of Bound is live on Amazon! I’m excited about this, for a number of reasons, not the least of which because people have been very patiently waiting. *Fires off the confetti cannon for herself*

Part of me is itching to go back and edit a few things, and the rest of me wants to go play with Cayle. I’m not sure which will win once this novella is done, but I suspect it will be Cayle. I’ll have to check the outline first, but I have a feeling it’ll be fine, maybe just a few tweaks.  Then off to play with words, spreadsheets and my masked Illusionist.  Le sigh. I wish this was every day, all day. One day maybe. A writer can dream.

About Julie

I'm a writer and photographer. I always have something with me to take notes for ideas or writing projects I'm thinking about or have on the go. I also like to go around with my camera and take pictures of anything that strikes me as beautiful or evocative. I'm perpetually working on one story or another, while waiting for enough distance to judge the last one (or more). I'm always working on several projects at once, developing the next book, even as I'm editing the last. Beyond that, there's always plenty of scraps and twists of ideas rolling around in my head, eventually turning themselves into full blown stories.

Yay! I’m so excited! Partly I’m excited because I really want to read it and wanted a physical copy, but the main reason I’m excited is because I had my boyfriend read the first chapter you had posted, and he agreed that this would be a good Christmas gift to get his father, and I was really hoping this would come out in time for Christmas. So – yay! 🙂

Oh no… All my Christmas presents are ordered already. O_O May have to wait for my birthday or something… But I finally got to read the first chapter! 😀 (I did have a question though… I’m still a teen and I mostly read YA, and was wondering if Bound is much more “adult”? Just curious…)

I guess I haven’t been around for awhile, have I? As soon as NaNo was over I had to up and get sick, and then the internet died for a week, and I’ve been really busy… I see you have been busy as well. XD Already written like a whole novella in my absence… Whew.

Anyway, this is me saying “Hi.” 🙂

Oh, and this title made me laugh. Again. 😀 You really should eat more often…

    • Julie says:

Wow, you’ve been busy indeed. I hope you’re feeling better now.

And you’re right, Bound (and the rest of my work, for that matter) is firmly adult. I’ve read some YA, but my writing always ends up on the adult side of things.

Wow, you just don’t stop writing do you? Have you kept track of how many words you’ve written in 2012? Happy holidays 🙂

    • Julie says:

      Happy Holidays to you.

Jmmcdowell asked me the same thing in another post and, at the time, the total was 566k words of draft, which includes nothing for notes, outlines, or editing, let alone blog posts. I was a bit surprised by the total, and I’m not sure why. I’ll probably do a final total for the year in my year-end post, since I’m still writing and the year’s not over yet. 😉

      • Pete Denton says:

Hahaha so with all the outlines and blog posts not to mention editing you’re heading towards 7 figures. Wow. Wow. WOW! 🙂

        • Julie says:

Yeah, if I could find a way to add editing in with any hope of covering the amount of work, I might well be over a million. I think with outlines and a guesstimate for notes, I’m around 3/4 of the way there. 😮
